Here for posterity - the spoils of yesterday's live video broadcasting shenanigans (from http://qik.com/robertandrews/ and http://www.youtube.com/parakeet). Good to meet y'all (and read some live comments during the show). I may write up some notes on how this went. I'd do it all at tomorrow's Apple Store gig - alas, no ticket...

**SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT ACCELERATE DVD**
In the first session they showed 6 Vincent Moon Takeaway Shows (acoustic versions of the band playing various locations around Athens, GA). Not sure if they're included on the Accelerate DVD or not:
-Until the Day is Done (mine shaft entrance/cave??)
-Living Well is the Best Revenge (in car- already released on iTunes)
-I'm Gonna DJ (in car)
-Houston (under that willow-type tree, featured in Ninetynights)
-On the Fly (in a house, JMS's??)
-Sing for the Submarine (in empty grain silo)
Then Q&A session with SN/SS video inbetween
Then Vincent Moon & Jeremiah's '6 Days'- which is on the Accelerate DVD. Mostly stuff from Ninetynights, nicely edited together, with some vintage R.E.M. interview audio snippets/historical quotes over the top. Worked well.
Then the next session was:
-Time Piece (1991 Out of Time EPK)
-Rough Cut (1994 Monster EPK)
-MTV Awards 1995 - R.E.M. play The Wake Up Bomb
-Stereophonic (1996 NAIHF EPK)
There was supposed to be a 'short extract' from This Way Up (1998 Up EPK) but all was running late so they stopped there. Good stuff though. Almost an overload by the end of the day mind you. I love R.E.M. but I can only take so much in one go!

I think UTDID was recorded on a railway trestle bridge, but maybe not the Murmurs one. Just before the performance, the car also passed a sign that said "(something) trestle" on it.
OTF was recorded in Michael's guest house I think. I recognise the elephant heads from some picture from that guest house that I saw somewhere.
I don't think the takeaway shows will be on the Accelerate DVD, but rather on Vincent Moon's website, www.takeawayshows.com (www.blogotheque.net)
In any case, the Takeaway Shows where GREAT! Naked and beautiful, especially UTDID, OTF and SFTS. OTF featured Bill R on telephone(!) and water stream(!!) whereas SFTS featured JMS on silo(!!!) and Bill R on plastic bowl and twig-breaking(!!!!)

Stipe's deadpan answer to the breathing question was cool, too. 'Let me say this..I think that breathing is VERY important.' hehe
Robert, as a fellow Cardiffian, was it you wearing the brown Spillers Records T shirt?

Nope. I own one, though (for those elsewhere: it's the oldest record shop in the world). I did see someone walking around with a Spillers t-shirt actually.

i spoke briefly to vincent moon after the showing, to say how much i loved the films, and asked whether the takeaway shows would be available. he said they should be online some time in the future.
from what i can remember, the sign on the trestle said something like 'trestle 1, bicycles 0'.
the films were beautiful, and beyond atmospheric. and as michael said, they retained their intimacy on the big screen.
